2023 Safari and Harrier bring ADAS to the Tata range: Updated cabin with new gadgets

After a long line of different time-limited color schemes and editions, Tata Motors has finally opened bookings for the 2023 Tata Safari and Harrier SUVs, which now come with notable upgrades such as ADAS capabilities. ADAS aside, both SUVs also get a host of new gadgets, including a new infotainment touchscreen and all-digital instrument cluster. Bookings for both SUVs are available through the website or dealerships at a nominal Rs 30,000. Here’s everything that’s new in the flagship SUV duo.

2023 Tata Safari

Revised cabin:
While the exterior design remains the same for both SUVs, the interior has now been upgraded. The Tata Safari now gets Oyster White leather seats and a similar interior theme with ash wood inserts in the dashboard for a more premium appeal. The Harrier, on the other hand, now gets seats wrapped in perforated Benecke Calico Oak Brown leather. The dashboard now gets oak inlays and the oak brown theme also extends to the door panels.

Gadgets:
Both the Tata Safari and Harrier now get an all-new, all-digital 7-inch instrument cluster, in line with SUVs in this segment, providing all manner of information such as direction, speed and remaining range, alongside other conventional metrics. Then there’s the all-new 10.2-inch infotainment touchscreen, which is brighter and sharper. It’s also more responsive than the previous model and gets a 9-speaker audio system with hardware and tuning from JBL.

New 7-inch digital instrument cluster

In other tech news, both flagship SUVs also get the 360-degree camera, wireless charging and ventilated front seats with 6-way adjustment and driver-side memory function. You also get an iRA connected vehicle suite that offers various features such as remote control, geofencing, OTA updates, vehicle diagnostics and security features.

Tata Safari and Harrier now offer 10 ADAS functions

Level 2 driver assistance systems:
This biggest upgrade in the 2023 Tata Safari and Harrier SUVs is the introduction of Level 2 ADAS features, such as Rear Collision Warning. The Harrier now has a total of 10 ADAS functions.

Perfomance:
Both the Safari and Harrier continue to be powered by the Kryotec 170 diesel engine, which has been updated to meet BS6 Phase 2 and RDE emissions standards. It delivers 167 hp and 350 Nm of torque and is optionally available with a 6-speed automatic transmission for the ADAS variants. Advanced ESP with multiple off-road modes, auto-hold and electronic parking brake is also on offer.

2023 Tata Harrier

Both the Safari and Harrier SUVs were good-looking, well-appointed SUVs in the segment and sold strongly. With these upgrades, they go head-to-head with other competitors like the Mahindra XUV700, which was the first to introduce ADAS in this segment.
