Losing photos on your phone can be an annoying experience, but the good news is that deleted photos on Android can be recovered.

To help you recover pictures that have been accidentally deleted or lost due to phone malfunction, Google offers a range of picture recovery options.

In this article, we go over some of the things you can do to recover lost pictures.

Recover Deleted Google Photos

Google Photos is the default photo storage app on most Android smartphones and includes a Trash folder that keeps deleted photos for up to 60 days. Therefore, the first step is to check the Recycle Bin for deleted pictures.

To open the Recycle Bin:

Open the “Photos” app on your Android device, then select “Library” from the bottom menu. If you’re wondering which app to choose, it’s the one that resembles a multicolored paper fan. Select “Trash” from the menu at the top. All removed photos are now visible in Photos when you tap the trash can icon. You can restore them from here. Tap Select at the top or press and hold any object to display the selection circles for all images/photos in the photo bin. To recover as many pictures as you like, tap on them. To restore the selected images, click “Restore” below. If you have Backup & Sync enabled, deleted pictures and videos will remain in your Recycle Bin for 60 days before being permanently deleted. To move all your pictures to another account, share your photo library with that account.

It’s also important to note that if you back up pictures and videos on a mobile device to Google Photos, they will also be deleted from your device if you delete them from the Google Photos app. However, you may learn how to delete backed up pictures and videos from Google Photos but not from your device.

Recover photos deleted from internal memory

This photo recovery method only works for images stored in Google Photos. It does not work for photos stored on your phone’s internal storage. You need to use a third-party photo recovery program if you deleted photos from your phone’s internal storage.

DiskDigger is an example of a third-party photo recovery app that can recover photos from your device’s internal memory or memory card.

The app is free to download from Google Play Store, but you have to pay for the premium version to recover full resolution images. Other apps offer the same services on the App Store for you to try.

Download and install DiskDigger from the Google Play Store to get started. Once installed, open the application and select the storage device from which you want to recover pictures.

The app will then scan your device for deleted photos and provide a list of them. You can choose which pictures to recover and save on your smartphone.
