AI, multi-cloud and sustainability apps will be the most important drivers of digital transformation in 2023: report

HCLTech has released the 2023 edition of its Tech Trends report, which aims to provide an assessment of the technologies that are shaping digital transformation and will enable modern businesses to stay ahead of the curve. The seventh edition of HCLTech’s Enterprise Technology Office annual report identifies the trends expected to play a critical role in accelerating three critical characteristics – flexibility, speed and scalability – for enterprises in the post-pandemic digital-first era.
Democratization of AI: In 2023 there will be a comprehensive democratization of AI – from the activation of chatbots to the integration into the chip industry for the development of AI-enabled hardware.
Accelerated Transition to Multi-Cloud: The transition to multi-cloud will accelerate significantly in 2023. Sovereign and industry clouds will see broader adoption, with more than half of enterprises using industry-specific cloud solutions by 2027.
Cybersecurity transformation driven by quantum technologies: Industrial applications of quantum technologies are realized in quantum secure communication and optimization of machine learning models using quantum machine learning.
Low-code non-code platforms for super app development: By 2024, low-code development will account for more than 65% of application development activities.
5G Applications Going Mainstream: 5G will become the de facto standard in the coming years, with increased collaboration between telcos and enterprises leading to a multitude of innovative 5G applications.
Rise of the “verse”: With technologies like 5G, AI and extended reality, companies will continue to excel at creating immersive experiences for years to come.
Blockchain to power Web 3.0: In 2023, we can expect the emergence of a more Web 3.0-centric blockchain, characterized by cohesive interoperability, automation through smart contracts, and seamless integration.
Technology to improve sustainability: We will see increasing awareness of green practices and how technology can be at the intersection to achieve sustainability-focused KPIs and ESG goals.
Technology to improve the employee experience: For almost 50% of HR leaders worldwide, the employee experience is a top priority. Cutting-edge technologies will lead to better experiences—from hiring and onboarding to learning and employee engagement.
Improved cooperation between humanoid robots: Cobots or collaborative robots with safe behavior when dealing with humans will gain momentum in the coming years. Computational empathy will support this trend by recognizing emotions and responding to them appropriately.
“HCLTech is committed to driving digital transformation for its customers and expanding its strategic ecosystem partnerships to enable competitive advantage in new and emerging technologies,” said Kalyan Kumar, Chief Technology Officer and Head of Ecosystems, HCLTech. “We’ve compiled the top 10 technology trends to watch out for in 2023 that will help organizations future-proof and build their organization’s resilience to thrive in any new normal.”
