Amazfit has released the latest version of its Zepp OS operating system for smartwatches with ChatGPT. This integration has created a unique tool that allows users to communicate with their smartwatches using natural language.
ChatGPT is an artificial intelligence (AI) model developed by OpenAI that generates responses to text-based input that are human-like using natural language processing. It has been trained on a sizable data set from various text sources and is one of the most mature language models currently available.
Now on version 3.5, version 4.0 of ChatGPT is expected to be released next week. This was revealed by Microsoft CTO Andreas Bran at an AI conference in Germany. The next iteration will have multimodal options, including video.
Amazfit is the first to come out of the box with proper ChatGPT smartwatch integration
According to Zepp Health, the latest version of the Zepp operating system for smartwatches has been released. The most fascinating aspect about it is that it comes with built-in ChatGPT integration.
It wasn’t immediately clear if this was just a ChatGPT watch face. However, it is a fully functional feature that allows users to communicate with their smartwatch using natural language, as shown in the 29-second Linkedin video clip below.
This makes Amazfit the first smartwatch brand with proper ChatGPT integration. No other company currently offers this feature. At least not in the same way. We wrote yesterday about an Apple Watch app that does something similar. But this software is quite limited and doesn’t allow audio input. There is also a charge for downloading the Apple Watch app.
The Zepp operating system includes the ChatGPT software by default. Go to the apps list and select ChatGenius to use the feature. There is also a separate dial with the chat function that gives you direct access to the AI platform and lets you ask your questions. The answer comes in the form of a detailed written statement.

For example, when a user inquires about their day, ChatGPT provides them with a variety of health and fitness stats relevant to the timeframe. Similar to this, users can use AI to find answers to questions about weather, traffic, date, time and various other data.
Why this matters
Virtual assistants like Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, Apple Siri, and Samsung Bixby are currently available on some smartwatches. The downside of these wizards is that they often provide minimal assistance or refer the user to external websites for more information, preventing them from providing quick and convenient access to information on the go. This results in users having to switch to their mobile browsers for more detailed responses, making the process tiresome.
In contrast, ChatGPT offers a more thorough and practical answer without directing users to other websites. Because of this feature, it is a great virtual assistant for devices with limited features like smartwatches.
