Android 14 will no longer let go of “speed booster” apps for the upcoming smartphone OS update, especially with its “misleading claims” for users and owners. According to a blog post on Esper, Google will take action against these apps that exist in the Play Store and promise better processes.
This is because the “effectiveness” of “task killers” is one of the top talks on an Android phone, where these apps claim they can speed up the device without actually doing it.
On Android 14 all this would change as the killBackgroundProcesses API cannot affect the apps present on the device and others. Instead of running it and killing background processes, these apps get an error message.

Google claims that no apps can kill the background process
At first it might be negative that Google plans to block these apps from speeding up the phone on Android 14, but that’s not exactly the case.
The Internet company claimed that these apps do not bring any lasting effects and that ending background processes could damage the device rather than protect it in the long run. It kills an app, and later when the person launches it, the closed app goes through the same process, draining the device’s battery, memory, and performance.
Android 14: what to expect?
The next Android version is coming this year, but Google has not yet given any information on the exact release date, but there is already a beta preview for developers and interested users. As one of the best Android smartphones in the industry, Samsung is already claiming that it will have faster adoption of the latest OS compared to Android 13.
Many features are already available for Android 14, mainly focusing on insider and leaker claims and reports that provide the latest information for the operating system. Here, speculators claim that Android 14 will turn smartphones into webcams for laptops and PCs to give users a better picture during video calls and the like, similar to Apple’s Continuity Camera.

Aside from these expected features comes the better handling of “Speed Booster” apps from Play Store, especially for those that claim better performance killing processes.
