Anthony Joshua shares profanity-laden social media jokes with Dillian Whyte

Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte continue to exchange contradictions amid talk of a rematch.

“AJ” has been out of the ring since his duel against Jermaine Franklin in April. At that game, Joshua scored a unanimous decision victory, ending a two-fight losing streak. As is well known, the former champions had suffered two crucial defeats against Oleksandr Usyk since 2020.

Following that win, the former two-time champion has been linked with a rematch with Dillian Whyte. The two had previously faced off in December 2015, with Joshua notching a standout knockout win. Almost eight years later, it seems they want to undo it.

Despite Anthony Joshua being linked with a potential September clash against Dillian Whyte, nothing has been made official yet. In addition, it is exactly the opposite. In recent weeks, Joshua has instead been linked with a possible fight with Tyson Fury.

While Eddie Hearn later cut talks with The Gypsy King, Joshua is now discussing a fight against The Body Snatcher. The former champion made several posts on social media criticizing Whyte and the media for covering the fight.

In response, his former opponent also took to social media and criticized Joshua. While the Brit explained that no fight was planned, the two heavyweights used quite combative words today.

Although the fight is far from official, Eddie Hearn has provided an update on Anthony Joshua’s next fight.

The former champion hopes to fight later this year but has to be careful who he fights. Joshua is set to fight on the same card in December alongside fellow heavyweights Oleksandr Usyk, Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder.

For his part, the former British champion is eyeing a fight with The Bronze Bomber in the co-main event. The card launches in Saudi Arabia, with every man expected to rake in huge profits.

That’s probably why Anthony Joshua’s return is being delayed, as are Wilder and Fury’s. Still, in an interview with Boxing Social, “AJ” gave an update on the talks between the former champion and Whyte.

There he revealed that they had indeed booked a venue for August. He explained:

“We have the O2 [Arena] recorded for this date, yes. We want to have AJ vs DIllian Whyte, that’s the fight we want to set for August 12th. We have yet to close this deal and we are a long way from there.”
