The summer of 2023 will be big. And by that I mean it’s expected to break travel records: almost 42.3 million Americans are expected to travel over Memorial Day weekend alone. With so many travelers flocking through airports around the world, it’s inevitable that luggage will go missing. It’s a heartache many of us have been through, and it can be a lot easier when you have luggage trackers like Apple AirTags to help you find your belongings at all times.
As a travel editor, these trusty little Bluetooth-enabled tracking devices have given me so much peace of mind when monitoring my valuables that I’m now recommending them to all my friends. And I don’t know about you, but I’m taking the start of summer as a sign to stock up on my already large stash of Apple AirTags — especially since the Apple AirTag four-pack is rarely on sale for under $90 this weekend is .
To buy: amazon.com, $87 for a 4-pack (originally $99)
These top-of-the-line Apple devices couldn’t be easier to use. Even I, a self-confessed technophobe, was able to connect the Bluetooth devices to my iPhone quickly and hassle-free. As long as you have an iPhone 6s or newer, simply place the tag on the item you want to track, follow the one-tap setup instructions, and voilà, you can start your stuff right away in the see phone .
I already have four AirTags on hand to keep track of my most prized belongings, including one for my luggage, one for my holdall, and one for the car (I always forget where it is in the parking garage) — heck, I even have one on me fastened my dog’s collar to ensure I can find him if he ever gets lost! But I have no intention of stopping here. I’m already looking more for my purse, my bunch of keys, my work ID and also for gifts for my traveling friends.
Measuring 1.6 x 1.6 x 0.31 inches and 0.39 ounces each, these coin-like AirTags are so light and compact I hardly notice they’re there. The only time I remember it is when I’m actively looking for something – usually my car. Although I often look for it in the parking garage, it also comes in handy for less frequent thefts and towing emergencies. Believe me, last year, before I bought these trailers, my car was unexpectedly towed after being hit while parked on the street – and the next morning I had no idea where it was. Suffice it to say that I bought one of these immediately.
Luckily I haven’t lost any luggage since I started using Apple AirTags (I always keep a watchful eye on my phone when I’m forced to check my hand luggage at the gate). But if I do, at least I have the peace of mind that I know where in the world they end up, so I know how to track them down, at least based on the success stories of other professional travelers I know.
Incidentally, while these have a lithium battery, they’re small enough that you can still take them on most planes, so stock up on essentials for your carry-on as well. The individual AirTag isn’t currently on sale, but if you want to try one, they’re a smaller investment at $28 apiece. For the record, this four-pack Amazon deal is pretty awesome because they’re only about $22 each.

It doesn’t surprise me that these travel lifesavers have 59,900 five-star reviews on Amazon. A traveler who admitted, “I really don’t know how I managed to live without these for so long,” said: “They’re useful in flying; I noticed that at the departure airport there was a notice that my luggage was left behind.” I agree – I personally love the feature that tells you when you’ve left an item. It has helped my fiancé remember his wallet more than once.
Another buyer said he was even able to track his stolen wallet thanks to this device. “It got me straight to the right car in the lot,” they said, adding that AirTags saved me so much time and stress. I love being able to easily check my app and see that all my devices and important items are with me.”
Seriously, if you’re not already out with Apple AirTags — or even use these tracking devices to keep track of your valuables on a day-to-day basis — you’re missing out. Whether you’re a loyal Apple fan or testing yourself this summer season, now is a good time to pick up a four-pack while it’s on sale on Amazon.
At the time of publication, the 4-pack was priced at $87.
