iPhone 15 may get a slightly larger display than iPhone 14 (representative image)
Demand for the iPhone 14 remained well below Apple’s initial expectations, likely due to the minimal upgrades it brought to the table. Now that the brand is gearing up for the iPhone 15 series, it remains to be seen if the vanilla iPhone 15 will make the top-selling phones list. Here are the top changes Apple is reportedly making to the iPhone 15.
Why is this story important?
According to the leaked renders of the iPhone 15, we may witness a design overhaul with two major changes. It can borrow Dynamic Island, which was previously supposed to be a Pro-exclusive feature. Also, there might be some changes to the loading end. As the brand adheres to the common European charging directive, we may see a Type-C connector instead of a Lightning connector.
The iPhone 15 may offer a slightly larger display
The iPhone 15 is said to get a slightly larger display (6.2 inches vs. 6.1 inches) than the iPhone 14. In addition, the CAD-based renders also show that the iPhone 15 will have a few millimeters thinner bezels and a deeper curve around the edges. The phone gets Dynamic Island, replacing its predecessor’s wide notch. We will also see physical volume and power buttons.
The diagonally oriented dual rear camera setup is expected
The iPhone 15 will have a similar look to the iPhone 14 in terms of the rear camera layout, the body of diagonally oriented sensors and an LED flash. It can get a 12MP primary and a 12MP ultra-wide lens. On the front we can see a 12 MP selfie camera.
Apple could ditch the Lightning connector in favor of the Type-C connector
The iPhone 15 may be powered by an A16 Bionic chip, considering the iPhone 14 borrowed the A15 Bionic chip from the iPhone 13 (series). Apple may keep the upcoming A17 Bionic chip exclusive to higher-end models in the iPhone 15 lineup. The iPhone 15 may have a Type-C port for charging, but that port may have its own “Apple-exclusive” limitations.
Specifications are subject to change prior to final launch
The details mentioned for the iPhone 15 are based on its renders shared by 9to5Mac and created by 3D artist Ian Zelbo using Apple’s CAD files. There is a possibility that the speculated specifications will change before the official launch. Apple’s iPhone 15 series will be shown at the Worldwide Developers Conference 2023, which is expected to take place in the usual September timeframe.
