- The world’s popular IP will merge with Web3 technology for a new gaming experience.
- The game is scheduled for release in late 2022.
- Fans and players can join the CAPTAIN TSUBASA -RIVALS- official Discord server for the latest updates.
CAPTAIN TSUBASA -RIVALS- is a new blockchain-based game inspired by the Captain Tsubasa manga series, which was first published in 1981 in the Shueisha publisher’s Weekly Shonen Jump manga anthology. Captain Tsubasa has had a significant impact on football players and fans not only in Japan but around the world.
CAPTAIN TSUBASA -RIVALS- players can train characters from the original Captain Tsubasa comics and compete against other players. The main feature of the game is that players can collect items through matches with other players and then exchange them for rewards such as new main and support characters.
Unlike traditional smartphone games, the characters in this game will be generative NFTs. This means each character has unique attributes and strengths that are randomly generated to ensure no two characters are the same.
In addition to creating a game strategy that takes into account various parameters such as special moves, skills, attributes and character compatibility, the key to victory in CAPTAIN TSUBASA -RIVALS- is to develop a unique generative NFT by training and leveling up your character.
A unique feature of CAPTAIN TSUBASA -RIVALS- is the in-game marketplace where players can buy and sell their characters.
“Being part of a game that uses new technologies like blockchain and NFTs is something new. While the game is still a work in progress, I have high expectations for the experience it will bring to players. I hope everyone will be able to enjoy this new game,” said Yoichi Takahashi, author of Captain Tsubasa.
The game developers BLOCKSMITH&Co. and Thirdverse have extensive experience in the gaming industry. Since 2019, Thirdverse has released several multiplayer VR fighting games, with several blockchain game projects in the pipeline as well. BLOCKSCHMIED & Co. is a subsidiary of the popular game studio KLab, which has been a global leader in mobile gaming since 2000 and is known for its focus on quality and innovative games.
“The inspiration for this game was the feeling of wanting to play blockchain games with my favorite IP and characters. I’m humbled to accept this exciting challenge to create new gaming experiences together with everyone,” said Shun Fujiyoshi, Producer of CAPTAIN TSUBASA -RIVALS -.
CAPTAIN TSUBASA -RIVALS- features music composed by Shinichi Osawa (Mondo Grosso), a leading music producer in the Japanese club scene, to introduce both old and new fans to the world of Captain Tsubasa.
“Of the many ways music can be used, I think its affinity for games is particularly profound. Especially with this project, it was a groundbreaking concept to take multiple approaches to a single song in stems and enjoy the wonder of combinations,” said Shinchi Osawa, also known as MONDO GROSSO.
The goal of this project is to achieve a blockchain game model that users will enjoy for years. To achieve this, CAPTAIN TSUBASA -RIVALS- is being developed by some of the leading game studios in Japan, using well-known Japanese IP to bring a classic character to the world of Web3.
