Until now I never thought that Scarlett Johansson and Elizabeth Olsen look so alike. Although they both play important roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I don’t think I’ve ever actually seen them together and never really connected. However, this new deepfake showed the two actresses together and the resemblance is pretty wild. Although the internet was quick to point out which actress was a deepfake and which was real.
The video of @TheSmarmyBum On Twitter, Olsen and Johansson showed up side by side. It’s the same interview, with the same hairstyle and outfit, the only difference is their faces, which means one of them is deepfake. The caption asked people to guess what was real, but users were quick to point it out Black widow Actress was clearly the fake. Listen:

While the two moved in unison and it was a bit difficult to tell the difference at first glance, fans were quick to point out why it’s obviously not Johansson. @miss_mack_23 wrote:
People say that because of the eyebrow thing, they can tell it’s Scarlett, and I’m just like…her hair has never looked like this in her life and she doesn’t move like this during interviews. Pretty easy to tell which is the deep fake. I didn’t even notice the eyebrows.

Scarlett Johansson is the deep fake. Pretty obvious from the feathering and blurring, to mention a few things (except for artifacts, double eyebrows, etc.).
Admittedly, because of the hair I got it quickly. Johansson has never had a haircut like this, at least as far as I know. While Olsen has been rocking the long beachy waves and bangs for a while now. Had that not been the case, however, I would have been wrong because the faces are super convincing, which is a testament to how far deepfake technology has come.
Deepfakes have become increasingly popular and technologically advanced in recent years as people create tons of videos and replace actors in various films. For example, a person imagined what it would be like to see The young star Karl Urban as Wolverine in a convincing way X-Men deepfake. While that was more of a dream cast situation, another fan deepfake Tom Cruise as iron manwhich almost happened in the early days of the MCU.
Other deepfakes have gone beyond dream casting, like this video by Olsen and Johansson, to create wacky and funny videos. Along with the two MCU stars Keanu Reeves was a subject of this type of deepfake. This is because a fan edited was hilarious and compelling The Matrix star in a TikTok about waiting for laundry.
Unfortunately, this little video probably comes closest to seeing the two actresses in the same frame. While you can see them in the same movies if you watch those Marvel movies in order, they never really have screen time together. However, that shouldn’t stop you from watching their wonderful performances. While they don’t have any upcoming Marvel projects in the works you can always go back and see them in their respective solo projects Black widow and WandaVision with a Disney+ subscription.
