Bungie has confirmed that the paid dungeon key will return in Destiny 2 in its Lightfall expansion, with high-end activities returning in Season 21 and Season 23.

Lightfall is so close on the horizon, and Destiny 2 players can’t contain the hype surrounding the latest expansion. Bungie has been slowly feeding players with information about the latest addition to the game. We’ve gradually received details about the location, enemies, and the new Darkness subclass that will drop in Lightfall.

Bungie recently announced on their website for Lightfall that the dungeon key will be returning to the game. The Dungeon Key is a paid pass that allows players to access various Bungie dungeons during a given year.

The dungeon key was originally released with Season of the Haunted for the Witch Queen expansion in 2022. This pass allowed players to gain access to Duality and Spire of the Watcher, dungeons released in seasons 17 and 19, respectively. Costing 2000 silver (about $20 USD), many players were initially torn at having to spend money on the dungeon key when they had already purchased the season passes.

Bungie Destiny 2’s newest dungeon could take place in the Neptune location of Neomuna.

Bungie has now confirmed that Lightfall’s dungeon key will also feature two dungeons, similar to the Witch Queen. These dungeons will be released in Season 21 and Season 23. Season 21 is titled Season of the Deep and will continue after the season of Lightfall.

The dungeon key will be purchasable with the release of Lightfall, although it will not take effect until the dungeon is actually released in Season of the Deep. However, players who have purchased the Lightfall Annual Pass will also receive the Lightfall Dungeons key upon release, entitling them to both dungeons across the board.

If you plan to play Destiny 2 all year round, including the dungeons and the seasons, it’s worth buying the Annual Pass. However, players who are unsure about the Annual Pass will need to pay the 2,000 Silver if they wish to participate in any of the new dungeons Destiny 2 is releasing.
