Union Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Rajiv Chandrasekhar has advised retailers not to give out their personal cell phone numbers unless they have a good reason. In a tweet public health activist Dinesh S. Thakur shared that he had an interesting experience at Delhi airport today. He decided to go to a bookstore to buy a pack of gum and when he went to pay the bill they asked for his phone number. When he asked for his phone number to buy a pack of gum, it said “for security reasons.” He woke up with no answer when asking for security reasons to buy a pack of gum. Immediately the manager came and asked him how he could have passed two security checks if he was a security risk. Dinesh S. Thakur shared in his tweet that he came without buying anything. And many passengers give their personal cell phone number without asking any questions. What is he missing here? How can we be so ignorant and careless?
