According to leaks and industry insiders, the Nvidia RTX 4070 is set to launch in just a month, on Thursday April 13th.
Reliable Twitter leaker hongxing2020 took to the platform to confirm that the fourth installment in the RTX 40 series will be the 4070, the direct successor to the RTX 3070, which turned out to be one of the most popular GPUs of the last generation.
Previously, Videocardz reported that Team Green is preparing an RTX 40-series GPU for an April 2023 launch. When the 4070 hits shelves next month, it will be well ahead of our previous prediction of a Computex 2023 reveal.
Nvidia still kept RTX 4060 secret. The card should also appear sometime in the next quarter.
The RTX 4070 is expected to be a leap ahead of the last generation RTX 3070
According to the leaked specs, the 4070 will pack the same number of cores as the last-gen RTX 3070; However, that doesn’t mean the upcoming Ada Lovelace-based 40-series card will be as powerful as its last-gen equivalent.
With the Ada Lovelace architecture, Nvidia introduced faster CUDA cores, a more efficient thermal design, and an overall increase in the graphics processing power of each GPU. Thus, the 4070 can outperform the last generation equivalent with a similar number of CUDA cores.

In addition, the 4070 packs 12 GB of fast GDDR6X memory. The transfer speed of the card is said to be 21 Gbps. This is an improvement over the 8GB of 14Gbps memory in the 3070.

If these leaked specs hold true, the card should offer a theoretical performance of around 29 TFLOPs. The RTX 3070 has a theoretical performance of 20.31 TFLOPs and the PlayStation 5 offers an estimated compute potential of 10.28 TFLOPs.
Theoretical performance, while not indicative of how the graphics card will perform in-game, is a good estimate of what to expect.
Expected prices of the RTX 4070
The 70-class GPUs are part of a $500 lineup from Nvidia. The RTX 2070 Super and the 3070 were launched with this price tag.
However, when estimating the price of the RTX 4070, one should consider inflation and the price development of other RTX 40 series cards.
Considering these factors, we believe the upcoming Nvidia GPU will cost gamers between $550 and $600. Anything above that price makes the card overpriced, while anything below that makes it a solid option for mid-range gaming.
When Nvidia launches RTX 4070 on April 13th, it will attract more gamers looking to achieve the performance levels these cards are capable of. Frame generation technology is a game changer. So the wait for the upcoming Nvidia card will be worth it.
