Samsung may be working on an interesting new camera feature for the Galaxy S22 series. A moderator on the company’s official community forums pointed out the Pro mode as controlling the recording parameters when recording videos in Hyperlapse mode.
First spotted by TheGoAndroid, a Galaxy S22 Ultra user recently suggested this feature on the South Korea Samsung community forums. They pointed out that Hyperlapse mode currently doesn’t let you manually control shooting parameters like shutter speed, ISO, and white balance. It is an automatic recording mode. Therefore, photographers cannot fully utilize the camera hardware to shoot hyperlapse videos they want.
Shortly after this suggestion was posted, a few moderators who are responsible for moderating camera-related posts responded. While one said they would forward the suggestion to the relevant department to look into the possibility, the other gave more good news. They said the camera crew is already working on the feature as suggested by other users in the past. If all goes well, we’ll be able to control the Galaxy S22 series in Hyperlapse Pro mode. Maybe also on other supported Galaxy smartphones.
“A similar feature was proposed a few months ago,” the moderator said (translated by Google). “…we have checked the application and are preparing for the application. We’ll get back to you later with good news.” This statement indicates that the feature is already in development and will be rolled out soon.
Samsung continues to improve the Galaxy S22’s camera
The Galaxy S22 is one of the best smartphone cameras out there, with the vanilla Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+ not too far behind in the pecking order. Samsung has improved the cameras with several software updates since their release. In addition, the company also offers the Expert RAW app for these phones. This app offers several professional photo features that you don’t get in the stock camera app. You get more precise control over the recording parameters, so you can record the way you want it to be.
We seem to have more on the way now. The upcoming feature will further expand the camera capabilities of the Galaxy S22. By the looks of it, the Pro controls in Hyperlapse mode are more of a standard camera feature than Expert RAW. But Samsung is still developing the feature. Maybe it will be the other way around. We’ll have to wait. Rest assured we will let you know when this update rolls out.
