“It won’t connect to everyone…”
We knew how to lose General Hospital‘s Britt would be hard. However, seeing her die in Mama Liesl’s arms was almost more than we could bear. Then, as news of Britt’s death spread, we had to engage with longtime bestie Brad to process his grief…which absolutely broke us.
However, not everyone was as moved by the scenes as we were. Having heard the adage, “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all,” some of the show’s less… shall we say “tactful” fans decided to let Brad’s cast member Parry Shen in with their thoughts by sharing them on social media Post.

“I’m sorry,” Susan Adamson tweeted, “but Brad is the worst false crier I’ve ever seen. He’s on a soap opera, for Christ’s sake…learn to cry!”
“Come on, Suzanne. Is this really the best you’ve got? Amateur!”

Had that comment been directed at us, we would have been tempted to throw ourselves in for a pint of ice cream. Shen, on the other hand, had the perfect answer. “That comment made me cry,” he quipped. “I can now! Thank you!”
And when Kathi Rupright said Brad sounded “very over the top,” Shen was downright tickled. “Exaggerated was a classic Sylvester Stallone film about arm wrestling competitions,” he replied, “that’s exactly what I was channeling. So, glad it sounded that way!”
“Come on, little one! Win this for Parry!”

When Kyle White commented that “Brad’s even more annoying when he’s sad,” Shen gave a fair warning that “that annoying meter is about to hit a 15 (and the dial only goes to 10)”.

By far the vast majority of the hundreds and hundreds of comments the actor has received have been positive. “I know I’ve had a really honest moment, which isn’t always easy,” he said on Facebook. “I have to accept that it won’t connect with everyone, but I’m grateful to those that do.”
Ironically, the episode in which Brad mourned the loss of his friend gave Shen the opportunity to tell how much Britt would love to “make the haters eat every bad word they’ve ever said to her.” What we have suspected for a long time proves once again: Shen and his alter ego have more in common than just their beautiful hair and bright eyes!
