By Divya Bhati: Unified Payments Interface (UPI) is becoming the primary means of payment for all small and large transactions. From buying vegetables from street vendors to paying utility bills to booking travel tickets. UPI has literally taken over cash and cards. UPI apps like Google Pay, PhonePe, and Paytm not only offer hassle-free money transfers, they are secure and offer a range of other features like monthly payment tracking. But what if those traditional apps drop you at the last minute due to low server? Or you can’t pay because your app needs an update, but it can’t be done on mobile data? Well, there is another app that you can use to initiate UPI payments, and that too without downloading the app. Because the app we are talking about is already installed on your mobile phone. We are referring to WhatsApp’s UPI transmission feature called WhatsApp Payments.
The WhatsApp UPI payment feature was introduced a few months ago and allows users to transfer money just as conveniently as sending a message. So you can easily send money to a mobile number or by scanning a QR code without downloading an app. Here is the step-by-step guide to set up payments on WhatsApp in the chat interface window.
