Graham Mertz dominates the Northwest defense in his first game since Paul Chryst was sacked. The Wisconsin QB’s game caused a stir on social media.
Mertz had more than 200 passing yards before halftime against the Wildcats in Evanston. Mertz threw 3 touchdown passes in the first half. Skyler Bell caught the first while Chimere caught Dike on the other two.
Mertz hasn’t had the most consistent career as Wisconsin’s QB. In his first three years at Madison, he had 19 passing touchdowns and 16 interceptions. Jim Leonhard could be the one who can unlock Mertz’s potential.
Wisconsin fans breathed a sigh of relief after watching Leonhard’s first game as interim HC. Mertz can potentially bring Wisconsin back into the B1G West title conversation if he keeps playing like this.
Wisconsin leads Northwestern 28-0 at halftime.
Here are some of the reactions on social media:

This is the Graham Mertz I wanted to see. Guess it was a coaching issue. Still think Scott Frost can make it somewhere else.

“Why couldn’t Graham Mertz do that when I was head coach?” – Paul Chryst is probably watching this Northwestern game.

So far Bobby Engram has been doing something #badgers Fans have been begging for this – mix it up on the first down and try to avoid the 3rd and long.
Graham Mertz 5-of-5 passing for 62 yards and a touchdown on the first down.
Do you think Northwestern is looking for UW to lead the ball there?
