GRAND CANYON UNIVERSITY TO OPEN FALL 2023 17,000 square foot seminary

The university will also offer half-price tuition and accommodation for students in the Master of Divinity program

PHOENIX, Feb. 27, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — Grand Canyon University will open a physical location for its Grand Canyon Theological Seminary to offer these students the opportunity to live on campus and incentives, more than half of tuition as well as obtain half-off housing. The campus seminary will initially offer the Master of Divinity program while also serving as a space for local pastors to connect with students and faculty, network, attend events, and complete sermon preparation.

Founded in 2016, GCTS operates largely online with in-person residencies. Seminary students now have the option to take their classes personally, during the day or early evening, depending on their schedule. The new premises at 27th Avenue and Camelback Road will include large classrooms, meeting rooms and a 4,000 square foot theological library.

“Arizona will see massive population growth over the next 10 years,” said GCU President Brian Mueller. “As the university expands programs at its nine colleges to provide the workforce it needs, we also want to provide the next generation of pastors who will serve in leadership positions for this growing population. This state-of-the-art facility for Grand Canyon Theological Seminary will provide students with the opportunity to experience personalized instruction from our world-class faculty amid a campus environment that has become known for its service leadership in the Phoenix community.”

Students enrolling in the in-person Master of Divinity program in Fall 2023 will receive more than half the tuition fee for the duration of their program, bringing the cost down to $300 per credit hour. In addition to reduced tuition, GCU offers students who qualify half-price accommodation on campus.

The 17,000-square-foot space will serve not only as a classroom environment for students, but also as a space for local pastors to meet, work on sermons, and use the library.

“We are deeply grateful for the blessing of space and resources that will enrich the lives and ministries of current and future pastors,” said Dr. Jason Hiles, Dean of GCU College of Theology and GCTS. “We believe the seminary will become something of a relationship incubator where pastors, students and faculty can connect, dialogue and encourage one another in ways that we believe communities in the West Valley and will bless in the greater Phoenix area. Churches in the community may also find multiple opportunities to develop relationships with some incredible young men and women who are looking for a church where they can gain experience and hone their God-given skills.”

The Master of Divinity program at GCU is a three-year, rigorous, 82-credit program of ministry training, biblical and theological study to set the framework for a future ministry career. Those interested can visit https://www.gcu.edu/degree-programs/master-divinity for more information.
