Halloween is just around the corner and there’s one last weekend to get out and enjoy what October has to offer in Mid-Michigan.

Here are some of the things happening just a few hours’ drive from Lansing between October 27th and 30th, 2022.

Fall Festival, Chili Dawg Challenge

Here’s a delicious way to start the last weekend of October! On Thursday evening (10/27) between 5pm and 8pm downtown Ionia hosts the annual fall celebration, the Chili Dawg Challenge. Chili and hot dogs are part of the fun, of course, but so are trick-or-treating, costume contests and pumpkin decorations. There is also complimentary hot chocolate to help soothe the cold.


Halloween at Greenfield Village

The Henry Ford of Dearborn is hosting Halloween in Greenfield Village for a final weekend (10/27 – 10/30). Costumed characters will greet visitors, with skits and “reimagined storybook experiences” scattered throughout the village. Special light and sound effects add to the Halloween mysticism.


YpsiGLOW

Luminaires, lanterns and lights will make YpsiGLOW shine this Friday evening (October 28th) from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. in downtown Ypsilanti. You are invited to join the procession of lights and then enjoy entertainment ranging from a drag show to a dance party!


Halloween NoogieFest

Gilda’s Club on Bridge Street NW in Grand Rapids will be hosting its Halloween NoogieFest on Saturday (10/29) between 1pm and 3pm. The event is open to the public and promises “friendly spooky games, crafts, activities and spooky cooking” for kids and adults of all ages. Costumes are welcome, but no spooky ones please.

Halloween forest

Milham Park in Kalamazoo is the backdrop for Halloween Forest on Saturday (10/29) from 2pm to 4pm. Planned events include “a costume contest, an inflatable corn maze, spin art, a 360-degree photo booth, and many Halloween-themed games set up throughout the park.”


Pinckney Spooktacular

Bring the kids to the Pinckney Spooktacular on the lawn next to The Hub in downtown Pinckney on Saturday night (10/29) from 5:30pm to 8:00pm. The event begins at 5:45 p.m. with the children’s costume parade, followed by a costume contest and trunk-or-treats.

The Dia de los Muertos Festival takes place all Sunday (October 30th) in Roosevelt Park in Grand Rapids. The event features lavish exhibitions honoring those who died, as well as Latin-inspired food, music, arts and crafts.
