Hector reflects on the risks of leaving a team too soon

Team Soul’s Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) professional Sohail “Hector” Shaikh recently revealed why he’s not fully committed to playing New State Mobile with the organization’s New State Mobile roster. Hector explained that he only played New State Mobile for a limited time until BGMI returned. He also stressed the importance of considering the long-term benefits of decisions, stating that his departure from a team could cause problems for him and his teammates in the future.

Hector states that if he joins and leaves after BGMI returns, the New State Mobile roster would be left behind by S8UL Esports

Previously, Hector revealed that he (Hector), Akshat “AkshaT” Goel, Deepak “SENSEI” Negi, and Harshit “MJ” Mahajan were building a New State Mobile team. Previously, Hector played New State Mobile with Tanmay “Scout” Singh’s TeamXSparks. Despite being a part of S8UL Esports, Hector has not considered joining S8UL Esports’ New State Mobile roster.

In a recent live stream, a viewer asked Hector why he wasn’t playing with S8UL Esports’ New State Mobile lineup. In response, he conceded that it was a good question but explained that he was only playing for a limited time, i.e. until BGMI returned. He stressed that even if he were to win trophies and leave the team, his departure would cause problems for both him and his teammates. “The thing is, I’m only here (playing New State Mobile) for a limited time. For this limited time, even if I win two trophies and leave the team after that, we will be left behind. My career will lag behind and theirs (teammates) careers will lag behind. These three players will stay behind. These three players have to search for a new IGL and if they don’t find one, they will continue to lag and the audience will continue to hate them,” he said.

Additionally, Hector advised his viewers to consider the benefits of their decisions over the longer term, rather than just the short term. “That’s why when you think about something, you think long-term. Think about what the long-term benefits of this are. For example if I won BMPS and left the team and played on another team. Everyone knows that Hector (himself) helped the team win the BMPS trophy, but no one would have supported me for leaving the team. They would support those where Hector played (BMPS) and won,” he said.

Hector won the Battlegrounds Mobile India Pro Series (BMPS) with Team SouL and has continued to play with the team in several other tournaments including BGMI Masters Series and PUBG Mobile World Invitational 2022.
