During the event, Himax will showcase its next-generation WE2 AI processor, targeting computer vision in battery-powered IoT devices, delivering AI capabilities with a 30x increase in local inference performance and 40% power savings in a resource-constrained edge device configuration Compared to the WE1 processor of the first generation. The WE2 is an ultra-low power AI processor with Himax proprietary hardware accelerators and Arm Cortex M55 MCU and Ethos U55 microNPU. The processor also includes a hardware voice activity detector that can detect user-configured voice events without turning on the MCU and NPU, making it perfect for ultra-low power, always-sight, and voice fusion use cases. A compelling demonstration of facial features, powered by the WE2 processor, will be presented at the booth on a laptop that offers meticulous facial expression recognition such as head pose estimation and gaze direction identification, as well as an advanced level of human- Machine interaction provides the current presence detection.
The company will also showcase its latest series of 3D vision AI processors embedded in the Arm Cortex processor and Ethos NPU, which offer 3D structured light sensing to support various spatial reality applications. With outstanding 3D perception capability, users can enable 3D eye-tracking with a high frame rate of up to 180 FPS and/or low-latency 3D hand gesture recognition, all critical features for next-gen AR/VR applications in immersive and advanced user experiences Improvement.
