TAINAN, Taiwan and SHENZHEN, China, Dec. 29, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Himax Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: HIMX) (“Himax” or “Company”), a leading provider and fabless manufacturer of display drivers and other semiconductor products, and Seeed Studio, the IoT hardware partner, which provides services that enable developers to realize their projects and products for digital transformation, today announced the joint presentation of the SenseCAP A1101 LoRaWAN Vision AI Sensor embedded in the intelligent image sensor solution Himax WiseEye™ (“WiseEye”) , at the upcoming CES 2023 from January 5-8, 2023 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Seeed Studio, using its expertise in the tinyML Edge AI platform, has developed a plug-and-play and easy-to-integrate SenseCAP A1101 vision sensor that runs machine learning to support a variety of AI models such as image recognition, people counting, target detection, Counter detection and many others. This industry-leading battery-powered sensor solution includes the Himax HM0360 CMOS image sensor supporting a VGA solution up to 60 FPS and the WiseEye WE1 AI processor running at 400MHz local inference, enabling powerful machine learning with ultra-low power consumption, as well as a LoRaWAN module with low-power wide-area network protocol (LPWA) for long-range networks.
At CES, Himax and Seeed Studio will present the SenseCAP A1101 sensor, which has already been used in real smart farming cases. Powered by Himax’s ultra-low-power WiseEye technology, the SenseCAP A1101 vision AI sensor can run for over 9 months while continuously collecting field images and uploading the final data results from local inference every minute. The Vision AI sensor hardware is designed to offer a high level of industrial protection supporting an operating temperature range of -40 to 85 degrees Celsius and a waterproof rating of IP66, making it well-suited for IoT applications running in either Argo- Ecosystems can be placed outdoors or indoors. The sensor solution also supports quick configuration of Bluetooth APP and quick connection to gateways and cloud servers with just a few clicks.
“We are really happy and honored to work with Himax to embed their WiseEye solution into this Vision AI device. To be the most trusted IoT hardware partner for global developers, at Seeed we are always striving to integrate advanced technologies into ready-to-use hardware solutions for digital transformation in vertical industries,” said Joey Jiang, GM of Seeed Studio’s Industry and Application Group. “Working with Himax is another step in Seeed’s vision to empower every developer to achieve their digital transformation goals with Vision AI technology.
