NextNav Pinnacle software is set to provide critical Z-axis functionality in mobile phones slated for release in 2023
MCLEAN, Va., September 15, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Cellphone developer Hot Pepper Mobile and NextNav, a leading provider of next-generation GPS, today announced a new agreement that will deploy NextNav’s Pinnacle vertical positioning technology for Hot Pepper Mobile’s upcoming feature phone in a tiered network -One-Carriers will bring the release in 2023. The partnership will bring z-axis geolocation capabilities, which are becoming increasingly important for 911 emergency services, search and rescue, and lone worker safety, to an accessible and affordable consumer device. The license will also allow Hot Pepper Mobile to ship phones equipped with Z-Axis 911 technology to all major wireless carriers in the United States.
Traditional 2D location technology is often inadequate or ineffective, especially in densely populated urban areas, which can be especially dangerous in time-sensitive emergency situations. NextNav Pinnacle leads the industry in providing accurate, highly secure vertical location data – in independent tests conducted by CTIA to measure Z-axis capabilities, Pinnacle delivered “ground level” accuracy on 94 percent of test calls, a level unmatched by any other available technology. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has required all wireless carriers to deploy these features nationwide to ensure accurate, floor-level, vertical location data of 911 callers.
