ISLAMABAD: Senior leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Dr. Shireen Mazari and Fawad Chaudhry, have called for an investigation after media reports went viral suggesting that a note from Judge Mandokhail, which had not become part of the Supreme Court order, not only reached PDM attorney Farooq H Naek, but he began reading it here on Friday during the trial.

On behalf of the PPP, PMLN and JUIF, Senior Counsel Farooq H. Naek issued a statement calling for the rejection of the Honorable Mr. Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan and the Honorable Mr. Justice Sayyed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi, saying: “that With regard to the above and the note read by him in court from Mr Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail on 02/23/2023, the leadership of the above political parties believe that the interest in justice, fair play and the protection of fundamental rights is due to a fair trial and a Due process as guaranteed in Article 10A of the Constitution, the Honorable Judge Ijaz ul Ahsan and the Honorable Judge Sayyed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi may kindly refrain from hearing the SMC No. 1 of 2023 and related petitions. ”

Quoting on Twitter, Dr. Shireen Mazari took the tweet from Islamabad court reporter Saqib Bashir and said: “This raises some very serious questions for CJP to address. First, how did a note from Judge Mandokhail, who was not yet part of the Order, reach Naek; and second, who gave it to him? The timing of Naek’s remarks also coincides with MaryamNS’s speech attempting to slander the judiciary!”

Fawad Chaudhry also took to Twitter, expressing concern over reports that Judge Mandokhail’s note had ended up in the hands of PDM attorney Farooq H. Naek, although it had not yet become part of the SC order.

Fawad Chaudhry also called for an investigation, adding that Farooq H. Naek should be questioned as to where he got this note from.
