If you have encountered battery life issues on your iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro or iPhone 14 Pro Max or just want to keep an eye on your battery life, you can check your phone’s battery level very quickly. Here’s how.
If you’ve previously used an iPhone running iOS 15, you might recall that there wasn’t a way to add a permanent battery percentage indicator to your phone’s status bar. Thankfully, that all changed with the arrival of iOS 16, the software that powers the iPhone 14 series.
There is now a way to permanently add your iPhone 14’s current battery level to your status bar. There are also a few other ways to quickly check your iPhone 14’s battery percentage if you don’t want or need to see the exact number in the status bar.
How to Check Battery Percentage on iPhone 14
In this guide, we’ll walk you through five ways to view the remaining battery life on your iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, or iPhone 14 Pro Max.
Add battery percentage to status bar
If you want to permanently add your iPhone 14 battery percentage to the status bar, you just need to follow a few quick steps. Here’s what to do:
- Go into the Settings app
- Scroll down and tap Battery
- Toggle the battery percentage to On
Once you’ve done that, you’ll see a number in the battery icon in the top-right corner of the screen. This is the current battery percentage of your iPhone 14.
When your iPhone 14 battery is draining, the battery icon will drain and the number will go down, giving you a quick, easy view of the current status of your device.
If you don’t want the number to be there all the time, just go back into the battery section of your settings app and turn off the battery percentage.
Use Control Center
There are also some other ways to quickly check your iPhone 14 battery percentage. One of those ways is to use the Control Center.
To access Control Center on your iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, or iPhone 14 Pro Max, swipe in from the top-right corner of the device screen.
Check the top right corner of your iPhone 14’s display and you will see your device’s current battery level percentage.
Charge your iPhone 14
While your iPhone is charging, you can also check the battery level.
Charge your iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro or iPhone 14 Pro Max. When the display is off, press the side button on the right side of your device to go to the lock screen. There you can see the current battery level of your device as a percentage at the top center of the screen.
Ask Siri
If you have Siri enabled on your phone, you can ask it about your iPhone 14’s battery life.
Invoke Siri on iPhone 14 by pressing and holding the side button or by using Hey Siri. Just ask “How long is my battery life?” and Siri will tell you exactly how much battery life you have left on your phone.
And finally, you can also use widgets to check your iPhone 14 battery percentage.
The first way to do this is via a widget in your iPhone’s Today View. That’s how it’s done:
- On the home screen of your iPhone 14, swipe from left to right on the display.
- Press and hold on the screen while in an empty area. You are now in edit mode. You can also enter edit mode by scrolling to the bottom of the screen and tapping Edit.
- Tap the “+” icon in the top left corner of the screen.
- Scroll down and find the Batteries widget.
- Choose the medium or large widget. The smallest size gives you no battery indicator.
With this widget active, you can now check the battery percentage of your iPhone 14 by swiping left to right on the lock screen or home screen.
You can also place the battery widget on your home screen, lock screen or any other side of your device. Here’s how you do it:
- On the home screen of your iPhone 14, press and hold the screen while in an empty area.
- Tap the “+” icon in the top left corner of the screen.
- Scroll down and find the Batteries widget.
- Choose the medium or large size.
If you prefer to add it to your lock screen, you have to press and hold on the lock screen until you see the customization tab at the bottom of the display. Tap Customization to edit your lock screen and add the battery widget.
