The process is almost as easy if you use a web browser. Let us walk you through the steps.
In a browser, go to Uber.com. Click Sign In. Select Sign up to drive. Enter your credentials and log in. Make sure you are on the Ride tab. Enter the pickup location and drop-off location. Choose when to go. Click Search. You’ll get results showing you the types of rides you can take and pricing information. What can I do to get a cheaper Uber price?
Don’t like the displayed price? There are a few things you can try to bring down the Uber price. Let us tell you all about them.
Review your driving options
You don’t have to pick the first option Uber throws at you when you take a ride. When you get your ride results, just swipe up and you’ll see a variety of ride types. UberX, UberXL, and Comfort are the most common, but there are some cheaper alternatives to choose from.
To change your Uber ride type: Launch the Uber app. Tap the Drive button. Click the Enter pickup location section and select where you want the ride to start. Tap Where to? section to select your destination. Once you’ve selected both, you’ll get results showing you the types of rides you can take, as well as pricing information. Swipe up from the ride type section to expand the section. Go through all the options and see what’s cheaper.
The cheapest option is usually UberX Share, formerly known as Uber Pool. Under this trip category you share your trip with other people. This means that the driver has to pick up or drop off drivers on the way.
By the way, there are also more expensive, more unusual variants.
just wait!
If you’re not in a hurry to get to your destination, simply waiting can lower the price of your Uber ride. Price may be inflated due to high demand which may be caused by peak periods, holiday activities, weekends and more. If you wait for demand to drop, Uber prices will drop too.
Of course, waiting for lower Uber prices can also work against you. If for some reason the demand increases or there are fewer drivers in your area, the price will also increase.
Maybe try Uber One?
See the reduced prices on my screenshots above? These are showing because I’m an Uber One subscriber. The subscription costs $9.99 per month, but you can often get good trial periods. We’ve seen trial periods last up to three months, but they change.
Uber One gives you discounts on general Uber spend. For example, you get a 5% discount on trips. You can also get 5% discount and $0 delivery fee when you buy groceries. If you’re a regular Uber Eats customer, you can also benefit from $0 delivery fees and up to 10% off orders. Uber claims that a subscriber saves about $27 per month.
Of course, this is only a worthwhile option if you’re a frequent Uber customer. You can always check if there is a good free trial offer for you! You can use it and then cancel before the trial period ends.
Try to find deals on Uber gift cards
This one’s a bit of a hit or miss, but if you’re lucky you might find some sweet deals. While not common, certain retailers sometimes offer Uber gift cards at a discount. You can save a few dollars! It’s worth a try. You can always check Amazon or Best Buy for good deals.
