Part of Apple’s “Continuity” suite, Handoff allows users to port everything they do on their Apple device to another Apple device. This transition works smoothly when all devices are connected to a common network. If you’re writing an email on your Macbook and need to leave urgently, you can easily “hand” it over to your iPhone and continue your task on the go. Handoff’s charm and effectiveness lies in its seamless transition. It can get annoying when it takes time to transfer tasks between devices. In this article, we will introduce you the best ways to fix handoff issues between Mac and iPhone or iPad.

Check if Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are enabled
Handoff requires a stable WiFi and Bluetooth connection between devices to work seamlessly. Swipe up and check Control Center to see if Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are enabled on your device. Do the same for your Macbook and Apple Watch. When everything is connected, turn WiFi and Bluetooth off and on again.
Restart Handoff on all devices
Restarting Handoff can resolve transient issues. Go to on iOS devices Settings > General > Airplay & Settings and turn the Handoff toggle bar off and then back on. Restart your device after this step.
Follow these steps to restart Handoff on a Mac
Step 1: Click the Apple menu and go to System Preferences. Select General.
Step 2: Uncheck the “Allow handoff between this Mac and your iCloud devices” check box.
Step 3: Restart your Mac.
Step 4: Enable handoff.
To restart Handoff on your Apple Watch, open the Watch app on your iPhone, go to General and turn off Handoff. Restart your Apple Watch and then enable Handoff.
Sign out of iCloud and sign back in
All of your devices must be signed in to the same iCloud account for Handoff to work seamlessly with each other. If they’re signed in to the same iCloud account, sign out and back in to fix temporary problems with your account.
To sign out of iCloud on an iOS device, go to Settings > Profile > Sign out. Mac users can sign out by accessing iCloud System Preferences > Apple ID > Overview > Sign Out. Apple Watch users are automatically signed out of iCloud on their Watch when they sign out of their iPhone.
Check for software updates
If an error is preventing the handover, it may have been fixed in the following software update. This is how you can update your system software on all Apple devices.
iOS: Settings>General>Software update.
Mac: System settings > Software update.
Apple watch: Settings>General>Software update. Or go to the Watch app on your iPhone, tap the My Watch tab, and choose General > Software Update.
