A free app on the Google Play Store called dynamicSpot does the trick on any Android phone with a notch or pill-shaped cutout. Setting up the app takes some work, but once you’re done you’ll have your own dynamic island, complete with app support for the apps you want and multitasking support if you have multiple running tasks at hand.
How to get the app and set it up. Note that the feature works best with Android phones that have a notch in the middle, as for now the dimension settings seem to have some bugs that don’t allow you to align the island to notches left aligned on the corners are.
Step 1: Get DynamicSpot from the Play Store
The DynamicSpot app is available as a free app in the Google Play Store. Download it by going to the Play Store, search for “dynamicspot” and install the app.
Step 2: Setting up the application
If this is your first time opening the app, click Next at the bottom to go to the permissions page. Tap each item here to give the app permission to show notifications from selected apps, show incoming notifications, and draw at the top of the screen.
Click Done at the bottom of the screen when you are finished granting permissions.
Step 3: Configure the pill
From the main page, go to Popup Settings > Dimensions and adjust the three sliders until you align the pill with your phone’s notch or pill. Check out the other settings too, which let you configure things like how the island behaves when you tap outside of it, and additional bubbles for multitasking.
Note that you need the Pro version of the app priced at Rs 99 to get advanced features like configuring the single tap and long press actions and showing the island on the lock screen.
