Parler is a slightly lesser-known social media platform that claims to be the right choice for supporters of “speak freelyHowever, Kanye West aka Ye will now buy Parler after he was banned from Twitter. Here’s how to sign up for the Parler social media app.
The social network gained widespread recognition after President Joe Biden won the 2020 presidential election. However, its momentum was cut short when Google removed the Parler app from the Play Store for its alleged involvement in inciting violence.
Just about a month ago it was brought back to the Play Store and now the famous rapper Kanye West is going to buy Parler. “This agreement will change the world and change the way the world thinks about free speech‘ says Parler’s CEO of the deal.
Parler – Free Speech on Social Media: What is it?
Parler is an American alternative tech microblogging and social networking service. Founded in August 2018, the platform claims to want to create a space for people to express themselves freely. The name “Parler” comes from French and means “to speak”.
Users often find Parler quite similar to Twitter, Mastodon, and a fair competitor to Donald Trump’s Truth Social App. Content on the Parler social network often comes from Trump/Biden supporters, conservatives, conspiracy theorists and right-wing extremists.
The platform’s community guidelines claim that the company’s goal is to provide all members with a “welcoming bipartisan public square‘ and a social platform in ‘the spirit of the First Amendment to the United States Constitution.”
Why was the Parler app banned in 2021?
The Parler app was banned and removed from the Play Store and the Apple App Store on January 9, 2021, as Google believed it was used to incite violence for the US Capitol incident. After that, the Amazon AWS services also banned Parler.
The social network service then went down for more than a month. However, it later returned with a different hosting partner. Parler also agreed to scan for hate speech and cleaned up some posts in the iOS version of the app to get back to the Apple App Store.
Kanye West is buying Parler after being restricted on Twitter and Instagram
The American rapper, who has a habit of staying in the headlines, buys Parler, the controversial social networking service. In a statement Monday, Parlement Technologies — the company that owns Parler — announced the news, expressing its gratitude for the transaction.
“is pleased to announce that it has reached an agreement in principle for Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, to acquire the Parler platform“, the statement said.
“The acquisition secures Parler a future role in creating an unstoppable ecosystem where all voices are welcome‘ the statement continued.
“Yes’ acquisition of Parler will strengthen our ability to create an unstoppable ecosystem. No one should have to censor themselves out of uncertainty as to what legal speech will ban him or her. No individual or company should worry about how Parler is being completely misplaced simply because he expresses opposing viewpoints. Groupthink is and always has been more dangerous than independent thinking.
“Parler will remain a place where everyone can think, listen and speak freely. We will continue the fight against censorship, abolition of culture and authoritarianism.”
Yes’s move comes after the rapper was banned from Twitter and Instagram for violating policies.
“In a world where conservative opinions are considered controversial, we need to ensure we have the right to express ourselves freely‘ Ye said of the deal.

How is Parler different from Twitter or its competitors?
Parler is very similar to Twitter and its competitors, but there are some differences. When you sign up for an account with Parler, we ask for standard information such as your phone number and email address. After that, a list of suggested episodes will be provided.
This list mainly contains conservative influencers and recommended hashtags. From the home page, you’ll be prompted to post something with the regular “What’s New?” Box and you will find the compilation of the posts of the people you follow.
The social network Parler also offers a private messaging feature that is just like Twitter and there is a Discover tab where you can find the latest news. The experience is similar to the platform that will soon be owned by Tesla CEO Elon Musk.
However, the content varies widely as it is usually conservative or drawn from far-right ideologies. Parler typically provides users with more political, conspiracy-based, and controversial content, while Twitter is a fairly dynamic platform.
This is the main difference between the two platforms. Twitter is known for restricting and banning accounts for sharing a controversial opinion. However, Parler is known for allowing accounts to do so without risk of having their content removed.
Kanye’s acquisition of Parler has blazed a new trail for the social media platform. It will attract a lot of attention as more and more users will migrate to the platform. Have you already signed up for Parler? Are you planning this?
