Apple released watchOS 9 this week, the update brings some great new features to the Apple Watch, one of which is the new battery saver mode. To use this mode on your Apple Watch, you must install the watchOS 9 software update on your device. You also need to install the iOS 16 software update on your iPhone.

Low Power Mode has been available on the iPhone for a while and is also available on the Apple Watch.

This model is designed to reduce the power consumption of your Apple Watch and extend the device’s battery life when in use. It does this by disabling some of the features that are normally enabled in normal mode.

How do you enable battery saver mode on Apple Watch?

Here is a list of features that are completely disabled:

  • Heart rate alerts for irregular rhythm, high heart rate and low heart rate
  • Heart rate measurements in the background
  • Background measurements of blood oxygen

  • Wi-Fi and cellular connections
  • Incoming calls and notifications
Some other functions may take longer in this mode:
  • A call can take longer
  • Background app refresh is less frequent
  • Complications are updated less often
  • Siri may take longer to process a request
  • Some animations and scrolling may appear less smooth

How to use power saving mode during exercise

There is also an option to turn on battery saver mode when exercising with your Apple Watch. This can come in handy when your battery power is low and you don’t have time to charge it before a workout.

To activate this mode, you need to open the Settings app on your Apple Watch, then scroll down and select Work outYou will then be given the option to choose Low power modeyou can now Switch this attitude to On. You can now use power saving mode during your workout.
