Google’s Magic Eraser is an impressive feature that many smartphone users would like to have available. This feature allows users to remove unwanted objects or people from their photos instantly. This feature was originally exclusive to Google Pixel smartphones, but now it’s available to users of other smartphones, either Android or iPhone, but for a fee.
What is Magic Eraser
Magic Eraser is a feature that can greatly improve the user experience of any smartphone. Launched in 2021, it has quickly become one of the most talked about features in mobile photography. This feature is designed to detect objects, people, or other elements that may be out of place in a photo. Once identified, it’s a good idea to remove them and with a simple tap, the function will erase the selected area from the photo.
One of the most exciting things about Magic Eraser is that it’s not limited to automatic detection. If the feature misses something or the user wants to remove something that was not recognized, they can manually select the area to erase. Magic Eraser then removes the selected area and even predicts what the scene would look like without the removed object. This feature also smooths the scene, making it appear as if the object was never there.

Another exciting feature of Magic Eraser is the “camouflage” feature. This feature changes the color of certain objects in the photo to blend in with the rest of the scene. This feature allows users to achieve a more cohesive and aesthetically pleasing image.
Previously, Magic Eraser was only available on Google Pixel smartphones. However, Google has now made it available to users of other smartphones through its Google One subscription service.
How to use Magic Eraser on any smartphone
Choose a photo with clear subjects and solid textures.
Tap “Edit” at the bottom of the screen and select “Magic Eraser” from the suggested tools or from the “Tools” category.
Now the app will scan the image and highlight suggested subjects for deletion. You can tap them one by one or choose Delete All. You can also manually mark what you want to delete by swiping over the subject.
To use “Camouflage”, select the option instead of “Delete”. This function adjusts the coloring of the subject to match the surroundings.
Users can access this feature in Google Photos by subscribing to Google One. Besides Magic Eraser, Google One also offers other features like additional cloud storage, Portrait Light and Portrait Blur editing tools in Google Photos.
While there is a fee to use this feature, Google is offering a free trial of Google One starting in March. This free trial is available to anyone who has not signed up in the past.
