IIIT-Delhi invites application for PhD admission under AICTE Doctoral Fellowship (ADF) Scheme 2022-23

Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi (IIIT-Delhi) has announced an invitation for qualified candidates to apply for admission to the PhD programs in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Electronics and Communications Technology (ECE) and Computational Biology (CB) through the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) Doctoral Fellowship (ADF) Scheme 2022-23.

According to an official statement, the program was launched by AICTE to promote research culture in AICTE-accredited institutions, to promote institute-industry joint research leading to start-ups, and to recruit technical research talents support financially.

Under the scholarship scheme, the scholarship recipients are paid Rs 31,000 per month for the first two years, followed by Rs 35,000 per month for the third year. HRA is also provided according to the Government of India (GOI) norms applicable in the city or place where the research fellow is pursuing their research, the statement said.

In addition, an emergency grant of Rs 15,000 per year is awarded to the scholarship recipients to cover the various expenses. In addition, additional financial support is provided by the IIIT Delhi for the purchase of laptops, salary increases, Overseas Research Fellowships (ORF), research trips.

It added that in order to apply, a candidate must have achieved the minimum percentage of undergraduate and graduate level educational qualifications required for admission of 70% (69.5% and above) for general or OBC candidates, while for SC or ST or Physically Handicapped (PH) 65% (64.5% and more).

In the absence of a percentage, the candidate must have achieved a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of at least 7.5 on the scale of 10 or equivalent at Bachelor’s and Master’s, while for SCor ST or Physically Handicapped (PH) 7.0 on the scale of is 10. In addition, the candidate should have qualified GATE or NET in the last 5 years.

The candidate should be less than 30 years old at the time of admission to the relevant university. However, an age relief of 5 years would apply to candidates who are in the SC or ST category or female or physically challenged. Deadline for submitting an application is September 18, 2022.
