NORMAL, sick. – Illinois State’s Support Your Sport Week is live and friends of Redbird Athletics are encouraged to support their favorite program(s) by clicking here. The state of Illinois has set a goal of raising $100,000 for this campaign and hit the halfway mark as of midday Wednesday.
The team that receives the most donors wins a $1,000 prize, while the team that raises the most amount of money also receives a $1,000 prize.
Many sports also have challenge gifts that can be unlocked. Anyone interested in creating a challenge gift can get in touch Derek Stark at [email protected] or 309-438-3803.
“We are excited to have our teams participate in the week-long Support Your Sport challenge,” said ISU Director of Athletics Kyle Brennan said. “Each of our teams has identified areas where additional resources would be beneficial, and we are grateful for the support as we seek to improve our experience as a student-athlete and continue to compete for conference titles each year.”
Specific needs by identified sport:
• Baseball – HITTRAX (baseball data acquisition and simulation system) for new indoor facility
• Men’s Basketball – additional meals, protein/recovery shakes, improved nutritional options
• Women’s Basketball – Travel, Skills Development, Scouting, Recruitment, International Travel
• Cheer – Orlando National Cheerleading Competition, uniforms, game gear
• Soccer – Nutrition
• Men’s Golf – SAMPutt Studio (Virtual Reality Gear Upgrade)
• Golf for Women – SAMPutt Studio (Virtual Reality Equipment Upgrade)
• Gymnastics – Tour of competition in Fort Worth, Texas in 2023
• Soccer – travel, improved nutritional options, recruitment
• Softball – technique, equipment
• Swimming & Diving – individual mental health sessions with Dr. Megan Canon
• Men’s tennis – training trips, dressing room items, trips
• Women’s Tennis – DISC program for evaluating athletes
• Athletics/Cross Country – new hurdles and starting blocks for newly renovated outdoor athletics complex
• Volleyball – international travel, extra meals, recruitment and travel
