Internet obsessed with Cat’s reaction to house party: ‘Two kinds of people’

A hilarious TikTok video of an introvert cat who prefers to shy away from a party has gone viral on TikTok with over 7.3 million views at the time of writing.

In the video posted by @lifewithdanzie entitled “PLEASE wait for it. He really went to bed under a weighted blanket,” a group of people can be seen enjoying a few drinks and listening to music in the kitchen of an apartment.

The text in the video says, “There are two kinds of people,” while the camera then moves into the bedroom to find a Russian Blue cat named Jimmy dozing on the bed under a weighted blanket.

According to animal health company Virbac, cats are able to hear much higher pitched sounds, up to 1.6 octaves above human anger, and one above that of dogs. So this cat may have decided to skip the party because the music wasn’t to his liking.

It was believed that cats were originally domesticated to help with pest control, chasing mice and rats on ships to protect valuable cargo. An important part of hunting cats large and small is the ability to hear the tiny movements of their prey.

Cats have extraordinary ears with 32 muscle groups that allow them to move their ears 180 degrees and pick up a whole range of sounds.

The cat’s ear consists of three parts: the outer ear, the middle ear, and the inner ear. Cats are born with their ear canals closed, which means “until they’re at least a week old, kittens can’t hear at all,” according to animal advice website PetMD. White cats with blue eyes are almost always totally deaf, PetMD said.

“The most common gene involved in this combination of coat and eye color also appears to cause degeneration of inner ear structures early in life,” the animal advice website says. “White cats with one blue eye are also often deaf on the side of the blue eye. There are a few genes that can lead to white coats and blue eyes, so not all cats with the combination are affected – but it’s been suggested that up to 80 percent are!”

The viral video received over 1.6 million likes and 1,000 comments.

“He said, ‘I need my space, you all close the door when you leave,'” said one user.

“Oh, being a cat under a weighted blanket,” said another user. “Brothers are going through a breakup,” said another.
