In the iOS 16.1 beta, Apple is giving second-generation AirPods Pro users the ability to disable touch volume controls.
One feature of the new AirPods Pro is that users can increase or decrease the volume by swiping up or down on each stem on the AirPods Pro touch sensor. While some users find the feature handy, others don’t like it. On iOS 16.0.2, the current iOS 16 public release, users cannot disable touch volume controls.
In the iOS 16.1 beta, there’s a new toggle on the Accessibility page for second-gen AirPods Pro to enable or disable touch volume controls. As before, users can customize the AirPods Pro stem’s squeeze and hold functionality, including enabling active noise cancellation, transparency mode, off mode, or invoking Siri.
iOS 16.1 is available to developers and members of Apple’s public beta program, with a public release expected in October. In addition to the new toggle for the AirPods Pro, iOS 16.1 will include changes to the battery indicator and more.
