More alleged details have surfaced about the iPhone 15 series and the next version of Apple’s smartphone operating system, iOS 17
iOS 16 was a buggy release with users still reporting a variety of issues. However, it’s a huge update and has introduced many new features and visual changes. Earlier this month, veteran journalist Mark Gurman said iOS 17, codenamed Dawn, might not have too many new features.
tipster LeaksApplePro, which has a mixed track record, says iOS 17 will focus on stability and efficiency. Apple may also make changes to the Mail, Fitness, Wallet, Home, and Find My apps. The operating system could also include a new app for the rumored AR/VR headset.
iOS 17 code dishes up details about the iPhone 15
Code snippets often reveal accurate information about unreleased gadgets, and LeaksApplePro says the iOS 17 code leaked information about the 15th line. According to their sources, iOS 17 will support six iPhone models Dynamic Island. The iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max are currently the only smartphone models from Apple with this cutout, and today’s leaks coincide with rumors that all iPhone 15 models will have the Dynamic Island.
The iOS 17 code also seems to confirm that the 2023 range will ditch proprietary Lightning technology for a USB-C port, confirming previous rumors that the standard models, the 6.1-inch iPhone 15 and the 6.7-inch iPhone 15 Plus, claimed will support speeds comparable to the Lightning connector, and the premium models, the 6.1-inch iPhone 15 Pro and 6.7-inch iPhone 15 Ultra, will enjoy faster wired transfer speeds.
LeaksApplePro also says the iPhone 15 Ultra could come with advanced image processing software. This seems to indicate that the Ultra will have better cameras than the Pro.
Although both the iPhone 15 Pro and the Ultra are powered by the 3nm A17 Bionic chip, it looks like the Ultra will have a more powerful version as the leaker says that “the chip in this iPhone will have more freedom than the iPhone 15 Pro” and the high-end model possibly must have a better cooling system give me the chip.
This is consistent with reports that Apple will create more differentiation between the high-end models, and the iPhone 15 Ultra could feature one Periscope camera and titanium construction, in addition to a larger screen and battery than the Pro. That might make the difference best premium phone of 2023.
The company is expected to preview iOS 17 at the Worldwide Developers Conference in June, and the stable release is expected to release alongside the iPhone 15 in September.
