Studies have shown that chemical hair straighteners and flat irons contain several dangerous additives and chemicals that are known to cause cancer and can also disrupt a woman’s hormones. The hair straightening product lawsuit alleges that the use of chemical hair straighteners leads to cancer of the reproductive organs of the ovaries, uterus and endometrium, the lining of the womb.
The US Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation, in February, ruled in favor of the plaintiffs due to the complexities of matters to be expected throughout the litigation, the variety of product defendants, and general issues of fact and law associated with each of the lawsuits Consolidation and centralization of all hair straightener claims as part of an MDL.
In addition to the PEC for the MDL Hair Straightener Infringement, Conroy serves or has served on dozens of other court-appointed governing bodies involved in complex litigation of national scope. These currently include:
Co-leader of the ongoing National Prescription Opiate Multidistrict Litigation before US District Judge Dan A.
