J. Sagar Associates has named Kumarmanglam Vijay, Manish Mishra, Sidharth Sethi, Tirthankar Datta, Utsav Johri and Vaibhav Choukse as equity partnerships in the firm.

Vijay is a 2015 graduate of CCS University, UP. He has extensive experience in direct and indirect taxation matters (including international taxation, transfer pricing, litigation and M&A tax), accounting and corporate law, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, overseas investments, market entry strategies and corporate restructurings.
Mishra is a 2012 graduate of CCS University, UP. He has over 23 years of indirect tax experience in industry, consulting and law firms. Manish’s area of expertise includes advising clients on tax efficient transaction planning, logistics and supply chain management, and contract drafting and review. He regularly appears before various arbitration and appeal forums for clients in tax disputes.
Mishra has been actively involved in policy formulation and advocacy with policy makers representing various industry associations and chambers.
Sethi graduated from ILS Law College Pune in 2007. He earned his LL.M. from Jindal Global Law School in 2022.
His practice includes a variety of corporate commercial litigation, arbitration and alternative dispute resolution. In addition, he advises and represents clients in insolvency proceedings, worldwide product liability proceedings, constitutional and administrative law proceedings, criminal proceedings, white collar crime proceedings as well as corporate and forensic investigations.
Sethi is subject to significant international arbitration (domestic, foreign, institutional and ad hoc) regarding disputes arising out of joint venture agreements, shareholders’ agreements, share purchase agreements and various other commercial agreements .
Datta graduated from the National University of Juridical Sciences, West Bengal (NUJS) in 2008.
He specializes in banking & finance, financial services and cross-border investments. He has extensive experience in structured debt transactions, including all types of finance-related transactions (secured, restricted and syndicated), project finance, acquisition finance, structured finance, real estate finance, listed and unlisted corporate debt/non-convertible debt (private placement). ), bankruptcy and debt restructuring, and other general banking and fintech products.
Johri graduated from National Law Institute University, Bhopal (NLIU) in 2008.
His practice focuses on structured finance, acquisition finance, leveraged buyouts, project finance, cross-border finance, real estate finance, debt restructurings and debt capital markets. He advises various Indian and international banks, NBFCs, financial institutions, debt funds, distressed asset funds and Indian borrowers.
Johri has also been actively involved in various debt restructuring and security enforcement engagements.
Choukse is a 2008 graduate of NLC, Bharati Vidyapeeth, Pune. He also holds an LL.M. in Competition Law from Kings College, London in 2009.
His practice focuses on complex enforcement and merger control cases, representing and advising clients on a wide range of competition law issues spanning multiple sectors. He has handled several high profile competition disputes in various forums including the Competition Commission of India (CCI) and the Courts of Appeal.
On the enforcement side, Choukse routinely advises leading multinational and industry associations on matters ranging from antitrust, leniency, home searches, abuse of dominance, trade agreements to competition law regulations.
With these partner increases, the total number of equity partners at JSA is 49.
