KCN Marine revolutionizes with Mobile Marine Service

KCN’s owners, Katie and Chas Norwood, will meet you and the ship wherever you are, whether it’s on the water, at your home or at a local marina. Think of this mobile car windshield replacement and you get the idea.

Their goal is to take the stress out of boaters by delighting them with KCN’s exceptional customer service, expert repairs, service and maintenance.

“So many people live on the water and keep their boats at their home docks. In order to have work done on their boats, they would have to take time off to take the boat to a local marina for maintenance. There are many people in marinas who need to do work that their marina doesn’t provide. Again, they would have to move their boat to another marina for this particular service. We can provide even better customer service by going where the boat is located so there is no need to make special arrangements to take the boat to the mechanic,” said Katie.

KCN has a remarkable wealth of experience; Forty one years of experience combined with accuracy having worked for some of the most prestigious Marinas in SoMD. Each has ABYC (American Boat and Yacht Council) electrical certification and manufacturer training in domestic air conditioning and refrigeration.

“We want to be known for our expert technical repairs and excellent customer service. We do excellent work at a fair price with a focus on communication. I hope that KCN Marine will soon be known in southern Maryland for our high standards of quality, outstanding customer service, fair pricing and the assurance that the job is done right. As boat owners, we work on our customers’ boat as if it were our own and understand the overwhelming responsibility of being out on the rivers, the bay and the ocean,” explained Chas, owner.

“Chas and I have been discussing starting our own business for several years. Given the need for mobile boat mechanics, we felt the timing was right. We’ve had so much support from the community, both from businesses and boat owners. Chas and I have worked on the Chesapeake Bay for so long that we have built a great reputation and relationships with the boaters. People are really excited to see that we started here at KCN Marine. Aside from our unique mobile offering, what will differentiate us from marinas is that we want to focus on communicating with our customers, which seems to be missing today. Being just the two of us allows us to develop a closer relationship with our customers. We want to be available for calls from our customers outside of regular business hours,” Katie said.

“Southern Maryland is all about nature and the Chesapeake Bay. We feel connected to Southern Maryland because we spend our free time on the Bay; We make our living helping others enjoy the bay. We’ve spent our entire careers learning our craft. We work hard to be good at what we do.

In our free time we like to be on the water. We are often on our boat, cruising, fishing or swimming at anchor, paddling or just having a BBQ with friends. We also enjoy spending time with our two dogs on the beach at our home in Drum Point,” Katie concludes.

In conversation with Katie and Chas Norwood, their love for the waters of SoMd resonates. Katie is a graduate of St. Mary’s College of Maryland and Katie and Chas’ knowledge and mechanical IQ are exceptional, something that will take them far in making their dream a reality.
