The Ball State University Department of Physics and Astronomy is seeking a Physics and Astronomy Laboratory Director.

Positional Function: Ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the physics and astronomy storeroom and labs each semester through direct supervision and interaction, and by providing critical technical support to faculty members while maintaining safety standards. Instruct the labs according to the department manager’s instructions. Supervision of university assistants and teaching assistants in the department of physics and astronomy. If necessary, support student research.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in physics or a closely related field. One year of relevant experience with significant laboratory experience. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. This position also requires the ability to stand and walk for several hours a day. Must be available for occasional night and weekend work.

Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree plus three years of relevant experience with extensive laboratory experience.
