Mukesh, who is from Pulamon, was shot in the shoulder by Prime Minister Alex around 11.30pm on Wednesday after a prolonged argument and the accused was taken into custody, they said.
A police officer said that some time before the incident, there had been an altercation between the duo on the street and the argument later continued at the lawyer’s home, eventually leading to their dismissal.
“The defendant is already in custody… his arrest will be on record shortly. The attorney sustained injuries to his shoulder and surgery is expected soon to remove the air gun pellet trapped under the skin,” he told PTI.
So far, Mukesh’s condition is stable, he added.
Meanwhile, in another incident, two people were arrested for firing shots at a local bar in Kochi last night, Maradu police said on Thursday.
Soyan, who was involved in several criminal cases, and his attorney Harold were charged.
“No one was injured in the incident. The duo came to the bar register and paid the bill. Meanwhile, Soyan is said to have drawn the gun and fired at the nearby wall without provocation,” a police officer told PTI.
The incident happened around 4.30pm on Wednesday but the bar owners informed the police during the night, after which a manhunt based on CCTV images was launched and the accused was caught.
One case was registered under IPC Section 308 and sections of the Gun Control Act, the official added.
