Littler Earns Mansfield Rule 5.0 Certification Plus from Diversity Lab

(October 18, 2022) – Littler, the world’s largest employment law firm representing management, has received Mansfield Rule 5.0 certification after completing a 12-month certification process by Diversity Lab. The company also received Mansfield Certification Plus status for the fifth consecutive year. Plus status is awarded to firms that, in addition to meeting or exceeding basic certification requirements, have achieved at least 30 percent under-representation of attorneys in a significant number of current leadership positions.

“Having been supporters of the Mansfield Rule since its inception in 2016, we are very proud that Littler has received Diversity Lab certification for the fifth time,” said Erin Webber, Littler’s CEO and President, and Paul Bateman, Chief Inclusion, Equal Opportunities and Diversity Officers, in a joint statement. “As a firm committed to promoting inclusion, equity and diversity throughout the legal industry, this recognition underscores the importance of delivering meaningful and impactful programs that provide our diverse attorneys with opportunities to hone the skills needed to thrive. “

The goal of the Mansfield rule is to increase the representation of historically underrepresented attorneys in the leadership of law firms. The Mansfield Rule, now in its sixth year, has become the standard by which law firms track and measure that they have at least 30% women, attorneys from underrepresented racial/ethnic groups, attorneys with disabilities, and LGBTQ+ attorneys for top Have considered executive positions, career changers at executive level, promotions to the equity partnership and participating in pitch meetings with clients.

The Mansfield Rule was one of the winning ideas at the 2016 Women in Law Hackathon hosted by Diversity Lab in partnership with Bloomberg Law and Stanford Law School. Littler shareholder Nina Markey (Philadelphia) was part of the team that created the original concept, and Littler was one of nearly 50 companies that tested the first version of the Mansfield Rule.

Littler has numerous inclusion, equity and diversity programs and initiatives – such as the SOAR program, the Career Advocacy Program and Breaking Through – that aim to retain, encourage and promote the professional growth and advancement of attorneys with diverse interests to promote. The company continues to set the standard for inclusion, equity and diversity in the industry as it deserves recognition for its policies, practices and programs.
