London-based multinational insurance services company Willis Towers Watson plans to set up an office in downtown Milwaukee, according to documents filed with the city and commercial real estate sources. Appleton-based developer The Boldt Company filed with the city for a commercial alteration permit to build on the 18th floor of the Associated Bank River Center building at E. Kilbourn Ave. 111 offices to build for Willis Towers Watson. The office will occupy 4,800 square meters of space, according to a source familiar with the project. A spokesman for Willis Towers Watson could not be immediately reached to comment on the company’s plans for its Milwaukee office. Willis Towers Watson operates in more than 140 countries worldwide and employs around 44,000 people. The company was formed in 2016 following a merger of London-based Willis Group and Arlington, Virginia-based Towers Watson. Willis Towers Watson currently has an office in Wisconsin at 400 N. Executive Drive in Brookfield. The company moved there in 2012 when it was still known as Willis North America, a unit of the Willis Group. At the time, it employed 110 people in its Milwaukee-area office and relocated from 2323 N. Mayfair Road in Wauwatosa to a 26,000-square-foot space in the Brookfield Building known as Executive Center VI. In 2016, Associated Bank acquired the 28-story Milwaukee Center office building on E. Kilbourn Ave. 111, renamed it the Associated Bank River Center and made numerous improvements to the 35-year-old building. Subscribe to notifications You have subscribed to notifications
