Matt Healy seemingly mocks Yungblud in a snarky social media video

Matt Healy has seemingly mocked Yungblud in a new Instagram story.

Bad blood between Yungblud and the 1975 singer seemed to have started last week after Healy’s controversial appearance on The Adam Friedland Show.

Like many people, Yungblud was offended by inflammatory comments made during Healy’s podcast appearance, including oddly derisive remarks about the Scottish language.

Unsurprisingly, massive online backlash ensued, including from Yungblud, who was particularly annoyed by comments made about Ice Spice during the podcast.

At one point in the podcast, Healy mentioned the aspiring US rapper and discussed trying to slip into her DMs on Instagram, which sparked a conversation about her. Healy and the podcast hosts then appeared to confuse Ice Spice’s heritage by labeling her as Hawaiian, Inuit and Chinese and poking fun at the two’s accents.

“Love listening to three privileged white guys sitting around objectifying a young black artist blowing up,” Yungblud wrote on Twitter of the conversation. “Welcome to your 30s I guess…”

This fairly fair callout clearly didn’t go down well with Healy. In an unexpected Instagram story on Sunday, he seemingly mocked Yungblud’s accent and character.

“Okay guys, I’m so damn angry,” he exclaimed, the words “emo” rolling down his cheeks. “Somebody blew themselves up in Ukraine and eh, we won’t take it because we’re the underrated generation of teenage fuckers and that’s what we stand for.”

Healy wasn’t finished there. “I don’t stand for things, I stand against things…I just stand against things and it tends to be the most morally obvious things…fuck patriarchy!” he added in a drawl of a Northern English accent.

Yungblud has notably spoken out on many social issues, including recently supporting the huge protests that swept across Iran following the tragic death of Mahsa Amani.

At the time of writing, Yungblud has not responded to Healy’s mocking video.

Despite Healy’s controversial comments, The 1975 will appear as a musical guest on Saturday Night Live next month, with Wednesday star Jenna Ortega hosting.
