Michael Paul, “Mike” Brukwicki, aged 76 from Monroe, WI, died on Monday March 13, 2023. He was born November 6, 1946 in Milwaukee, WI. Mike graduated from Notre Dame High School in Milwaukee, WI in 1964. He received his BS in Mathematics and Physics from Lewis University in Romeoville, IL in 1968 and earned a Masters in School Counseling and a Masters in Education Administration from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL. Mike began his career as a teacher at Joliet Catholic High School, where he taught math and physics. He continued to serve as a teacher and counselor at LaSalle-Peru High School, ending his 25-year career as Assistant Principal at Monroe High School (1983-2008). Mike was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church and an active member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish in Monroe, WI. Mike enjoyed coaching little league baseball and serving as a basketball umpire. He was an avid sports enthusiast – he loved watching his children and grandchildren and was a devoted Cubs fan. Mike had many hobbies including woodworking, making stained glass pieces, camping, traveling both domestically and internationally, and collecting interesting gadgets on his adventures.
The death was preceded by his parents Floyd and Christine Brukwicki, his in-laws Thomas and Clara McGann, three brothers-in-law, and cherished eldest son Michael Paul Brukwicki Jr. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 54 years (June 1, 1968), Elaine (McGann); his beloved children Gail (John) Vanderhoef of Waunakee, Matthew (Michelle) Brukwicki of Monroe, Joan Brukwicki of Madison, Martin (Amber) Brukwicki of Lake Geneva; and four esteemed grandchildren, Kate Vanderhoef, Anna Vanderhoef, Henry Brukwicki, George Brukwicki; Brother Floyd Brukwicki of Florida; Sisters-in-law Marsha (Steve) Driggers of Charleston SC, Mary Michaels of Marseille, IL, Carol McGann of Joliet, IL, Jane (Hal) Choisser of Channahon IL, and various nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will hold visits on Sunday, March 19, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at St. Clare of Assisi Parish, 1760 14th Street, Monroe, WI 53566. Funeral services will be held at St. Clare of Assisi Parish at 11:00 am on Monday 20 March 2023 with Father Tafadzwa Kushamba officiating. Burial at Calvary Cemetery.
