Mobile and video games that help you lose weight, lifestyle news

What is your New Year’s resolution to get fit and healthy? You’re certainly not the only ones adopting the #NewYearNewMe mantra. Sticking to an exercise routine isn’t easy, especially when you’re just starting out. However, fitness games allow you to burn off those calories and have tons of fun at the same time.

Here are some that will get you moving with ease.

Ringfit Adventures for Nintendo Switch

Ring Fit Adventure was once hard to buy as it was one of the most popular games during Circuit Breaker, but now that the hype has died down it’s available in game stores nationwide and online.

This is an action RPG game in which you have to train to defeat monsters in order to fight against the powerful Dragaux who is himself a muscular bodybuilding dragon. Yes, your exercises will damage the enemy! And that’s just the story mode. There are other fun mini-games and custom workouts to explore once you’ve completed Story Mode. The perfect game to prepare for your IPPT.

Each Ring Fit Adventure purchase comes with the Ring Con and leg strap to measure and track your movements. You start with the same four exercise routines, but you’ll unlock more exercises as you level up.

If you’re just starting out, I’d personally recommend not increasing the difficulty to the max in the beginning or you might get discouraged. Setting your difficulty to Medium will allow you to advance in the game.

Poor Nintendo Switch

This game was the main reason I bought a Nintendo Switch back then. Also, you don’t need any additional add-ons to play this awesome boxing game with a twist. Literally.

In this fighting game, each of the available characters has extendable arms that move when you do. Yes, you hold your Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons in each hand to simulate real boxing. As you twist your punch, the character’s punch also curves. You can also set different boxing gloves for different effects. Trust me, you will break a sweat hitting and dodging your opponent. It’s also a fun party game!

In addition to battles, there are other mini-games such as basket shooting and volleyball. More serious players can compete online in worldwide competitions, but if you manage to convince a buddy to get this game, you can both play online. #SafeDistancing yo.

Fitness Boxing 2: Rhythm & Movement Nintendo Switch

A more serious boxing alternative on Nintendo Switch, Fitness Boxing 2: Rhythm & Exercise gives you workouts supervised by one of nine virtual trainers of your choice. With a Joy-Con in each hand, you’ll simulate boxing kicks, uppercuts, and dodges in time to the music, while the game increases in difficulty as you progress.

However, the Nintendo Switch can’t accurately measure what an uppercut is. So sometimes it can be quite sian if it doesn’t register your shot properly. Nonetheless, it’s still a great fitness game if you want a basic boxing workout without the extra dressing.

Just Dance 2021 for Nintendo Switch, PS4 and Xbox One

Do you miss the days when you would hit the dance floor at your favorite club? Shake your butt and burn calories to the beat with Just Dance 2021 – the latest installment in the Just Dance series. The goal: to groove as precisely as possible to the movements of the character on the screen.

On the Nintendo Switch, all you have to do is hold a Joy-Con in one hand. PlayStation4 users will need the PlayStation Camera, while Xbox users will need a Kinect – but if you don’t have those peripherals, you can also use your smartphone through the Just Dance app. The smartphone controller also works with the Nintendo Switch – just be careful not to throw your phone across the room while you’re playing.

Play with up to six players and get fit together (#SquadGoals) and move to songs by Billie Eilish, Lil Nas X, Ariana Grande, Blackpink and more. If you get bored with the available songs, you can always subscribe for 600 more beats, but it’s quite expensive #justsayin.

Zombies, run! iOS and Android

If you want a change of scenery and some fresh air, you can start your weekly jog in the park with “Zombies, Run!” add the thrill of running away from zombies.

This app is an audio adventure with 500+ story missions that will have you running to gather supplies while escaping a horde of zombies! The sound is very immersive, you will definitely feel like zombies are hot on your heels. It can get pretty crazy, but your body will thank you for the workout. Fear is a pretty good motivator, right?

It’s free to download, but you’ll need to pay for a subscription to access all game modes and features. And to get the most out of the game, check out these 5 wireless earbuds to buy right now.

The Shikudo Games team has made exercise fun by using your phone’s pedometer. Whether you walk, jog or jog, you will always progress through their games – as long as you keep moving.

In Fitness RPG, your steps are converted into energy to level up heroes in an RPG adventure. In Wokamon, the cute Wokamon needs your help because your steps are converted into energy for the Wokamon – the more you run, the more Wokamon you collect. In Pocket Plants, grow and develop adorable plants using energy generated by (You guessed it) Go have cast.

FitForce iOS and Android combined with a PC

Thai game developer Runnex Entertainment is behind FitForce, a series of fitness-based mini-games played on a computer using your smartphone as a controller. The smartphone is used to track your movements to make your character move, run or jump. For example, in a mini-game where you have to avoid obstacles, you have to put the phone in your pocket to track how you run in place.

The game is still in development, but good news – it’s free to play. In addition, you can help the developers to report bugs and other issues to make their game a success.
