A British blogger and author has gone viral for saying her husband used to be hot.
Writing for The Times, Molly Gunn – who also blogs for Selfish Mother – expresses concerns that if she met her husband today, she wouldn’t feel attracted to him despite their dating of over 20 years.
“My favorite photo of him was taken (by me) on a beach in Ibiza in 2003 when he was a handsome DJ with curly hair, a wit and ripped jeans. Sometimes I look at Tom now and I wonder what happened to the Tom I met then,” she said.
Ms Gunn and her husband Tom have three children together but are struggling with their waning attraction.
She doesn’t really spoil her husband’s current looks and says she still “admires” him, but admits she preferred how he looked before “marriage, kids and mortgages,” as she puts it.
“I’m looking at this grown 45-year-old man, with this frown, a habit of talking with food in his mouth, an unfortunate green-and-gold vest, and a cap (grimace) that hides his now coarse salt – and pepper-colored hair , and I think: who are you?” she said.
The blogger says the couple sometimes spoke about what could have been.
“Sometimes we talk about divorce,” she says.
“Sometimes we talk about what else is out there.
Sometimes we just get on and have a great time. Sometimes I wish we could be who we were before life weathered us.”

Mr. Gunn is briefly mentioned in an exchange with his wife about how they have changed.
“Why did you have to change? I loved you the way you were!” says his wife.
“I’m different now, and so are you,” he replies.
She mentions that the former “fit, curly-haired DJ with ripped jeans” now talks about stoicism — an ancient school of thought based on personal virtue ethics as the “highest good” — and does yoga at 5am.

Some people appreciated her honesty and authenticity, while others found her downright offensive.
“Has he left her yet,” wrote one user on Twitter.
“He deserved so much better,” said another.
The article prompted a reader to ask why the husband was involved.
“One wonders what the poor husband thinks of this and why he agreed to be involved.”
The article unleashed a flurry of personal insults against Ms Gunn, criticizing her and her appearance.
But that proved more fodder for Ms Gunn, who was quick to defend her perspective in a follow-up article entitled “I got shamed by trolls after writing my husband used to be hot”.
