How it happened
Despite the Rams playing one of their worst games of the season in last week’s first round of the conference tournament in a 4-3 overtime win over Faulkner, the Rams looked fresh and complete against William Carey on Wednesday night, controlling possession for the majority of the game game.
The Rams earned a penalty in the 31st minute of the game after a Crusader was called into the box for a handball. Sebastian Joerg, who started the game with a perfect 3v3 line in penalties this year, took the free kick and scored his fourth goal of the season. From then on, Mobile led 1-0 at half time.
In the second half, great ball movement at halftime for Mobile led to Jorgge’s second goal of the night, with Zacharia Hasler earn the assist. Jorgge’s second goal of the game came in the 66th minute and was a big confidence boost for Mobile. The multi-goal match is Jorgge’s first of the season.
As time wore on, despair began to sit on William Carey’s side as the Crusaders continued to advance deep into Mobile territory. However, Mobile managed to tuck the Crusaders away with the final goal from foot in the 88th minute Zacharia Hasler. Maxim Benoit the support was credited. From there, the Rams ruled out the Crusaders 3-0.
In the win, Mobile passed William Carey 11-9 and took a total of four corner kicks. William Carey recorded 12 corners in the loss but had nothing to show for it. In the net for the Rams, Ty Turner looked great collecting three saves on three shots. Six of Mobile’s eleven shots hit.
