STARKVILLE, Mississippi – The state of Mississippi celebrates Women’s History Month in March with a variety of events, including presentations and discussions on important women’s issues, as well as numerous networking and community-building activities.
The first of three events in the Women’s Health Luncheon Series opens the month with a discussion of the history of women’s health beginning March 1 at 11:30 am in the John Grisham Room at the Mitchell Memorial Library. Two additional luncheons — the March 8 presentation, “Healthcare for the Whole Woman” and “Medical Care as Self-Care” on March 22nd — are scheduled for the same time and location later this month. Sports fans can cheer on the Bulldog women’s teams throughout the month with free entry to games and competitions. Events include tennis matches on March 3 against the University of Kentucky; Softball games during Alex Wilcox Memorial Weekend March 3-5 and Bulldog Invitational March 9-12; and the Athletics’ Bulldog relays scheduled for March 23-25. The Office for Institutional Diversity and Inclusion will present “Our Voice, Our Insights: A Panel on Women’s Empowerment” on March 20 at 11:30 am in Memorial Hall’s Coskrey Auditorium. The Women’s History Month tribute, You Are Appreciated, We Are Inspired, will be held at 11:00 am on March 23 at Drill Field, where participants will be able to write letters of appreciation to female faculty, staff and friends who have helped them , inspired and supported their time at MSU. Sponsored by the offices of Fraternity and Sorority Life and Survivor Support, the rain venue for the event is the first floor of the Union.
The annual Women’s Empowerment Brunch will be held March 25 at 12pm at the Bost Extension Center. Hosted by IDEAL Woman, the event will be themed ‘Building Our Future’ and will feature inspirational speakers, networking opportunities and great food. Visit www.tinyurl.com/ideal-brunch to register.
