NYC Health + Hospitals is hosting free health insurance workshops to prepare New Yorkers for upcoming open enrollment periods

Workshops open to the public help residents understand the best health plan options for them and their families

NYC Health + Hospitals today announced a series of free health insurance workshops to prepare New Yorkers for the upcoming open enrollment phase. In partnership with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the workshops will help community partners, faith-based organizations, caregivers and community members understand the health insurance options available to them as they prepare for the Medicare and New enrollment open periods York State of Health, the state’s official online marketplace. These workshops focus on open enrollment – ways in which individuals and families can review their coverage options and make informed decisions. Registration is free and required prior to the event. CMS health insurance specialists will provide updates on Medicare Parts A, B, C, and D, Medicaid essentials, preventive services, enrollment assistance and resources for the uninsured, and more. The workshops are open to community partners, faith-based organizations, caregivers, community members and NYC Health + Hospitals employees.

With the exception of individuals on Medicare, the next open enrollment period for New York State, where residents can either change their insurance plan or enroll in health insurance for the first time, begins November 1, 2022. For individuals on Medicare, the annual enrollment period began on October 15, 2022 and ends December 7, 2022. During that time, people on Medicare can choose a Medicare Advantage plan or a prescription drug plan. They can also switch plans if they are already enrolled.
